Nobody stands on the edge of the Alps or the Rockies or the Grand Canyon in order to go there to feel better about ourselves. Do you know why you go there? Because you were written to be satisfied with splendor, not self. You were created and a law written on your heart to be infinitely, eternally, fully, joyfully satisfied in a grand splendor not a great self.

The Works of God 
Thank you John (Piper and Knight!)! This it true! God drew me to Himself when He confronted my sin on a literal mountaintop-in the Alps. I saw there a God who created those majestic mountains, and the people below, and was so blown away that he chose to love me and reveal Himself to me. Your daily posts remind me of how great is God, and how needful I am to place my peace and joy in Him alone. Thankful for you.
